Since August of 2007, Jeffrey’s primary area of practice has been in real estate litigation, primarily in residential landlord-tenant disputes. Jeffrey has extensive experience with real estate litigation claims involving common law and statutory fraud, fraud by non-disclosure, negligent misrepresentation, and alleged violations of the Texas Consumer Protection – Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA). In addition, Jeffrey has handled numerous business and consumer litigation matters as well as debt collection actions, including writs of execution and garnishment. Jeffrey has handled more than 1,500 cases ranging from municipal court to the Supreme Court of Texas

In the area of real estate litigation, Jeffrey is recognized as an expert in post-foreclosure litigation, including eviction proceedings, wrongful foreclosure, and title disputes. Jeffrey has represented landlords and tenants in eviction and security deposit disputes. Further, Jeffrey has handled hundreds of breach of lease contract and breach of lease contract guaranty cases across the State of Texas. Jeffrey has assisted property owners with the homeowner’s and condominium owners’ disputes. In the realm of post-purchase litigation, Jeffrey has prosecuted and defended claims arising from alleged failure to disclose defects and other similar matters involving fraud, misrepresentation, the DTPA and earnest money.
On the appellate side, Jeffrey has prosecuted and defended appeals in the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals at Dallas, the Second Court of Appeals at Fort Worth, the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo, and the Tenth Court of Appeals at Waco. Further, Jeffrey has handled and assisted with matters in the Supreme Court of Texas. As a result of such experience, Jeffrey has developed impressive research and legal writing skills that have served him at all levels of litigation.
In addition to being licensed in the State of Texas, Jeffrey is also licensed (inactive) by the State of Maryland.
Jeff Sprigg's Previous Legal Experience
Prior to joining the Sprigg-Noval Law Firm, Jeffrey was a solo practitioner for nearly 10 years focusing on landlord-tenant and real estate litigation matters. In addition, Jeffrey also handled matters ranging from corporate espionage and defamation to breach of contract matters. During this time, Jeff Sprigg developed his expertise in post-foreclosure litigation. Prior to his solo practice, Jeffrey was an Associate Attorney with the Suster Law Group for nearly six years. During that time, Jeffrey represented apartment complexes and commercial landlords across the State of Texas. Jeff Sprigg also developed expertise on guaranty law and debt collection matters in connection with enforcement of judgments.
Pre-Law Career
Prior to entering the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, Jeffrey had spent over 11 years as an information technology professional for firms such as AT&T, Frito-Lay, PepsiCo, Inc. and Pier 1 Imports. Having graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Jeffrey worked on AT&T’s long distance billing system before transitioning to a role as instructor and recruiter. Jeffrey then worked for Frito-Lay and PepsiCo before becoming a consultant and contractor. By 2003, Jeffrey chose to pursue his long-time goal of becoming an attorney and left the information technology behind.
During law school, Jeff Sprigg was a founding member of the Older Wiser Law Students (OWLS) group formed to support “non-traditional” law students who were changing careers. In his first year, he was nominated for Outstanding Legal Brief. In his second year of law school, He was recognized as the Outstanding Oral Advocate in the annual 2L Moot Court competition. Further, he was named as an alternate on SMU’s team for New York Law School Wagner National Labor & Employment Moot Court Competition. Between his second and third year of law school, Jeffrey was an intern for the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals at Dallas and for Judge John Payton, then-presiding judge of Dallas County Court at Law No. 2. During his third year of law school, Jeffrey served as a research assistant to Dean John Attanasio. Later that year, Jeffrey was named as “Swing Speaker” for SMU Wagner Labor and Employment Moot Court team. The team finished as National Runner-Up. As a result of his accomplishments Jeffrey was named a “Master” by the SMU Board of Advocates.

Personal Life
Jeffrey is father of four boys including twins born just after his second year of law school and two stepsons, all of whom keep him and his wife very busy. When Jeffrey is not watching one of his sons play sports in person, he is likely cheering on his Texas Longhorns or his wife’s St. Louis Cardinals. Jeffrey also enjoys building Star Wars-themed Lego kits and creating Van Halen-inspired artwork. His passion for creating light displays and paintings combines his late-mother’s artistic talents and his late-father’s engineering prowess.
